Version 2.94, released in 2007 for the PlayStation Portable — a remake of the game I had written four years earlier for the PlayStation 2, with the same rabbit and rather more polish.

It installs the way homebrew did at the time: copy the folder, DATA and all, into PSP/GAME150/BunnyTetris. The readme says it was tested on firmware 3.40-OE. It was built with the PSPSDK, plays its music through MikMod, and pushes sound out through Jim Shaw’s PSP output driver.

Slide the falling piece with left and right, rotate it with Cross and Circle, and press Down to drop it. Complete a horizontal line and it clears; clear several at once and you are paid a bonus; the game ends when a new piece can no longer enter the matrix. Do well enough and it asks you to type your name, letter by letter, for the hall of fame, which keeps your score, your lines and your level.

The credits in the readme are three names long: graphics by Made, modules by Maf, and AMIGA for inspiration :). Maf’s five tunes are called now panikk!, hear me moving, kloon land, mouve! mouve! and teu-teu-teu-yeu-teu. Tyranid took the screenshots, here and for the Recession Maxidemo alongside it.

The title screen carries a banner that dates the moment exactly: piracy kills video-game industry! please, buy games — and, in the same breath, this software and/or developers is not licensed or endorsed by Sony Computer Entertainment. Somewhere in the binary there is also a small mystery of a message reading prized contests sucks!

And the readme signs off with a shrug. Asked whether anyone might want to get in touch: humm.. let’s say, this is my first and last homebrew on PSP. So, who cares? Have fun, Arnaud.
