phX ranked 2nd @ Revision 2018

It’s now official: phX got the 2nd place at the Revision 2018’s oldschool competition.

The 1st place was pretty close (1st: 1045 points; phX: 1020 points) so we were a serious danger for the compo winner.

Let’s roll the dice for us next time.. :)

The oldskool demo compo, in full

Revision 2018 ran from 30 March to 2 April in Saarbrücken, Germany. Nine demos went into the oldskool demo competition, across six different machines:

  1. We Come In Peace by Censor, Fairlight and Offence — Commodore 64 — 1045 points
  2. phX by Condense — Amstrad CPC — 1020 points
  3. Gnork! by Desire — Commodore VIC-20 — 800 points
  4. Onescreen Colonies by Vanity — Amstrad CPC — 746 points
  5. TV-One by One — Commodore 64 — 686 points
  6. Serious by Moods Plateau — KC 85 / Robotron KC 87 — 626 points
  7. In Stereo by Digital Sounds System — MSX — 607 points
  8. Silly Venture 2k18 Invitation by Lamers — Atari 8 bit — 564 points
  9. Hello C64 by Methos — Commodore 64 — 421 points

Twenty-five points, out of a thousand, between a Commodore 64 and an Amstrad CPC. Two of the nine were CPC demos, and the other one — Onescreen Colonies by Vanity — is a production I have no trouble calling the S&KOH of our generation.

CeD was in the oldschool graphics compo the same weekend, and came 4th with InversiO_8102.

About the demo

phX was started in 2013 and finished in March 2018: five years, one coder, and the trip from Canada to Germany to present it at the party place. Condense had not shown anything at a party for fifteen years.
